Compositing

It's been busy over the holidays and I'm glad things are starting to calm down a little bit so I have time to mess around on my new computer!! Don't get too excited, its a refurb from eBay, but its doing a great job so far :). For only $10 a month I joined the Adobe Creative Cloud, it was a limited time offer and I'm lovin' it. I was able to download Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, InDesign CC, and Lightroom 5. Some of those are 'trials' but it may be worth it to purchase the full versions.

Now that I have up to date software for editing, I'm looking at some pictures I took last summer with B and her cute family. I showed the pictures to someone, I forget who, and they said it was weird how P was standing in the background at the Record shop and not really 'in' the picture per se. So, time to learn Compositing.

Here are my before shots:

Please keep in mind that I just bought this camera a few months ago. Sure I took  Photography in College and Graphic Design courses, but I'm merely a self pro-claimed Amateur Photographer. I wasn't really posing B, I told her to act like I wasn't there. We did several different shots, but not once did I think "was everyone IN the frame?" Well, thank goodness for the magic that is Photoshop.

Here is my composite:

I'm interested to see what B thinks of this, since their expressions are so different!! But it was fun using the Layer Masks and different effects to blend P from 'Picture 1' into 'Picture 2. What do you think? How'd I do? Got a picture you want me to take a stab at editing? Leave a comment :)
